Waqf Amendment Act: Supreme Court hearing against Waqf Amendment Act postponed once again

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the petitions filed against the Waqf Amendment Act 2025 till next week. The hearing on this matter was to begin on Monday, but Solicitor General Tushar Mehta urged the court to postpone it till next Wednesday. The Supreme Court agreed to his request and now the matter is listed for hearing on Thursday, May 15.

Waqf Amendment Act This case is being heard by a bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice PV Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Vishwanathan. However, when the hearing began on Monday, CJI Khanna said that he has read all the arguments filed by the government and the petitioners. The court said that some questions related to figures and registration have been raised on this issue.
As CJI Khanna’s retirement is near, he decided that he does not want to reserve the final order or judgment on the matter. The matter will now be heard by a bench headed by Justice BR Gavai, who is going to be the CJI, next Thursday.
