Elon Musk launches xAI company to ‘understand true nature of universe’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk on Wednesday launched a brand new synthetic intelligence (AI) company referred to as xAI that goals to to “perceive the true nature of the universe”.

“Announcing formation of @xAI to perceive actuality,” Musk tweeted.

According to its web site, the aim is to perceive the true nature of the universe.

The group is headed up by Musk and contains group members which have labored at different huge names in AI, together with OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, and Google’s DeepMind.

The web site lists Igor Babuschkin, Manuel Kroiss, Yuhuai (Tony) Wu, Christian Szegedy, Jimmy Ba, Toby Pohlen, Ross Nordeen, Kyle Kosic, Greg Yang, Guodong Zhang, and Zihang Dai as xAI group members.

“Finally launched http://x.ai. The arithmetic of deep learning is profound, lovely, and unreasonably efficient. Developing the “concept of all the pieces” for big neural networks can be central to taking AI to the following degree,” tweeted Yang, a Co-founder of xAI.

“Conversely, this AI will allow everybody to perceive our mathematical universe in methods unimaginable earlier than,” he added.

The xAI group will host a Twitter Spaces on July 14, the place listeners can “meet the group and ask us questions”.
