Sikkim’s long wait of 49 years ends as PM Modi lays foundation stone of ‘Rangpo’ railway station
1 min readIndian PM Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone for Sikkim’s first railway station viz Rangpo station.
The occasion marked a brand new starting within the state which waited patiently for the institution of a railways station for the previous 49 years.
Residents trusted street and air transport modes to this point.
“Rangpo station is the shape of a touristic and defensive level of view for Sikkim and India, Basically, Sikkim didn’t have a railway line earlier. The authorities has signed this undertaking in three phases. In the primary section, Sevoke to the Rangpo rail undertaking; within the different section, from Rangpo to Gangtok; and the third section, from Gangtok to Nathula,” Deputy railway supervisor of Alipurduar Amarjeet Agrawal mentioned to ANI.
Sivok-Rangpo is a 45-kilometre-long rail line connection undertaking.
As half of the undertaking, 41.55 km in size falls in West Bengal and three.41 km in Sikkim.
