BPCL and IONAGE collaborate to integrate EV chargers across India • EVreporter
2 min readBharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and IONAGE, a Bangalore-based eMobility service provider, have announced an extended partnership to improve the accessibility of electric vehicle (EV) chargers across India. This partnership ensures that both current and future BPCL EV chargers will be available through the IONAGE platform, allowing for a more integrated EV charging experience for users nationwide. The agreement was signed by Mr. S. Kannan, Chief General Manager of Marketing, Retail, BPCL, and Mr. Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, in the presence of Mr. Pardeep Goyal, Business Head, Retail, BPCL.
IONAGE, founded in 2021, is working to integrate a network of over 100,000 EV chargers onto its platform by 2028. IONAGE aggregates charging stations from various Charge Point Operators (CPOs), allowing customers to access a vast network of EV chargers through a single platform. The company has onboarded over 95,000 users, with around 15,000 monthly active users, said a company statement.
The partnership builds on the success of BPCL’s eDrive initiative, launched in February 2022, enabling users to leverage BPCL’s charging network via the IONAGE platform. This platform aggregates chargers from multiple charge point operators (CPOs), providing customers with a unified platform for accessing a wider range of charging options.
Speaking about the collaboration and the aim towards enhancing the EV Charging accessibility in India, Mr. Pardeep Goyal, Business Head, Retail, BPCL, said, “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with IONAGE, a dynamic leader in the eMobility space, as part of our commitment to building a sustainable and accessible EV charging infrastructure across India. At BPCL, accessibility and convenience of customers is of prime importance for utilization of charging infra. Our collaboration with IONAGE will enable customers to utilize BPC chargers from IONAGE’s aggregation platform.”
Mr. Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE added that, “At IONAGE, our vision is to create a cohesive and comprehensive ecosystem that supports the needs of all electric vehicle owners and operators. And in line with this vision, we are happy to have extended our partnership with a robust and well-respected brand like BPCL. This is a significant step towards making EV charging more accessible and reliable across India.”
India now has 12,146 operational public EV charging stations, led by Maharashtra (3,079) and Delhi (1,886). This represents a 640% growth over two years, supporting the government’s goal of 30% fleet electrification by 2030. Government support and rising consumer adoption are driving EV infrastructure development.
