Honda Power Pack Energy to launch battery swap service for ACTIVA e: • EVreporter

Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited (HEID), a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., has announced the launch of Honda e:Swap services for the ACTIVA e:, introduced by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited (HMSI). The service will begin in Bengaluru in February 2025, followed by New Delhi and Mumbai in April 2025.

At HMSI’s ACTIVA e: launch event on November 27, 2024, HEID confirmed that users can access battery swap stations by registering through its mobile application when purchasing the vehicle. HEID plans to expand its service network in Bengaluru, New Delhi, and Mumbai, targeting 250 battery swapping stations in Bengaluru, 150 in Delhi, and 100 in Mumbai by March 2026.

HEID, established in November 2021, initially focused on electric auto rickshaws and has since broadened its services to two-wheelers. The battery swap service allows users to exchange discharged Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries for fully charged ones at nearby swap stations. The system is designed to lower the upfront cost of electric vehicles by separating battery ownership and addressing range limitations.

HEID has partnered with organizations including Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited, and HMSI dealerships to establish battery exchangers (Honda Power Pack Exchanger e:) at strategic locations.

The company also monitors batteries and exchangers through its cloud-based system, Honda Power Pack Cloud, to maintain operational efficiency. In August 2024, HEID secured additional funding of INR 2.2 billion to support the expansion of its business operations.

HEID contributes toward the realization of carbon neutrality and greener future of India by pursuing the penetration of battery swap solution”.
