Price, specs, booking date out

Tata Motors has officially launched the Harrier EV, its new mid-size electric SUV, with an introductory price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch comes five years after the Harrier EV was initially showcased at Auto Expo 2020 as a concept.

Tata Motors will begin accepting bookings for the Harrier EV on July 3. Ahead of that, the company has released updated specifications and previously undisclosed technical data about the vehicle.

The Harrier EV will be available with two battery packs: 65 kWh and 75 kWh. According to Tata, the 75 kWh unit delivers an IDC-certified range of 622 km, while real-world conditions are expected to yield between 480 and 500 km.

Base variants will come with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) single motor generating 235 bhp (116 kW). Higher trims feature a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive (AWD), adding 156 bhp from the front motor. While total power output has not been officially announced, the peak combined torque is confirmed at 504 Nm. The EV’s top speed is electronically capped at 180 kmph, and Tata states it accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.3 seconds.

Charging options include 3.3kW and 7.2kW AC chargers, with support for up to 120kW DC fast charging. The fast-charging system is capable of adding up to 250 km of range in just 15 minutes. The Harrier EV includes six terrain response settings—Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Custom. Additional functions include Boost Mode, Drift Mode, Off-road Assist, and cruise control operational from speeds as low as 5 kmph.

Kerb weight for the RWD versions is listed at 2,235 kg, while AWD variants weigh approximately 2,336 kg. This results in a weight gain of around 300 to 400 kg compared to the internal combustion engine (ICE) Harrier models.

The Harrier EV introduces several features not previously seen in Tata vehicles. These include a digital inside rearview mirror with DVR capability, a digital key system with NFC card, autonomous parking with summon function, and a Samsung NEO QLED infotainment screen.

Other notable equipment includes a 10-speaker JBL audio system, ventilated front seats, electrically adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control. It also offers advanced features like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) power transfer.

The Adventure variant will feature a four-speaker audio setup as standard.

With a competitive price point and comprehensive feature list, the Harrier EV is poised to bolster Tata’s position in India’s rapidly growing EV market. Additional pricing and variant details are expected to be disclosed closer to the booking window.
