e.l.f. Cosmetics (short for eyes, lips, face) is an American cosmetics brand known for offering high-quality, affordable makeup and skincare products. Founded in 2004 by Joseph Shamah and Scott Vincent Borba, the brand gained popularity quickly due to its accessible price points, with many products originally priced at $1. The brand’s philosophy is to make beauty accessible for everyone, offering a wide range of items across categories like makeup, skincare, and beauty tools.

Since taking over e.l.f. Beauty in 2014, Amin has led the company through a remarkable transformation. Under his direction, e.l.f. Beauty went public in 2016, experiencing one of the beauty industry’s most successful IPOs on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: ELF). In the years that followed, he grew the brand more than sevenfold, expanding it into a multi-brand portfolio that includes e.l.f. Cosmetics, e.l.f. SKIN, Naturium, Well People, and Keys Soulcare.

Amin’s focus on diversity and inclusion is reflected in e.l.f. Beauty’s workforce and leadership. The company is one of only four U.S. public companies with a Board of Directors where at least two-thirds are women and one-third are diverse. His leadership also prioritizes aligning the company’s values with those of its consumer base, underscoring e.l.f. Beauty’s mission of accessible, inclusive beauty.

Amin’s career spans over 30 years, including roles as President and CEO of Schiff Nutrition, where he increased the company’s value from $190 million to $1.5 billion, and Vice President at The Clorox Company. He began his career in brand management at Procter & Gamble and holds a Bachelor’s in International Policy and an MBA from Duke University.

e.l.f. is cruelty-free and vegan, which means none of its products are tested on animals, and it does not use animal-derived ingredients. The company has embraced a digital-first approach, frequently collaborating with influencers and using social media to stay connected with younger audiences.
