NTPC Starts Trial Run of Hydrogen Bus in Leh
1 min readMumbai, India: Towards attaining Carbon-Neutral Ladakh, NTPC is establishing a Hydrogen Fuelling Station, and a Solar Plant, and offering 05 Nos Fuel Cell buses for operation on intracity routes of Leh.
The first hydrogen bus reached Leh on seventeenth August as half of a 3-month-long course of of area trials, roadworthiness exams, and different statutory procedures. This might be India’s first-ever deployment of hydrogen buses on public roads.
The first-of-its-kind Green Hydrogen Mobility Project at 11,562 ft is co-located with a devoted Solar plant of 1.7 MW for offering renewable energy. The gas cell buses are designed for operation in sub-zero temperatures in rarefied atmospheres, typical to such altitude places which is a novel function of this mission.
NTPC is dedicated to attain 60 GW of Renewable Energy capability by 2032 and be a serious participant in Green Hydrogen Technology and Energy Storage area. The firm is taking on a number of initiatives in the direction of decarbonization comparable to Hydrogen mixing, Carbon Capture, EV buses, Smart NTPC Townships and many others.
