Central employees are eagerly waiting

Central employees are eagerly waiting for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission because the 7th Pay Commission was formed 10 years ago. Generally, a new pay commission is constituted every ten years, which increases the salary and dearness allowance of the employees. Central employees are hoping that the government will take a decision in this regard soon. Experts believe that the Finance Ministry can take a big step on this in the Union Budget 2025, but at present the government has not given any official information in this regard.

7th pay commission at a glance

The 7th Pay Commission was constituted by Manmohan Singh’s government in February 2014 and was headed by Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur. The purpose of this commission was to review the salaries of central employees. The 7th Pay Commission was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘s government and it came into effect from 1 January 2016, while the changes under it came into effect from 1 July 2016. Now the 7th Pay Commission is celebrating its 10th anniversary and central employees are waiting for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.

Is the government taking steps towards forming the 8th Pay Commission?

A question was asked in this regard in the Rajya Sabha, to which Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary gave a written reply. He said that at present there is no consideration on the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, now the central employees are hopeful that the government will soon take a decision on this.
