2 min readDistrict Magistrate Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has issued orders of various restrictions under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (B.N.N.S.) 2023 to maintain law and order in the district during the Panchayat elections, to create a favorable environment for free and fair voting.
The District Magistrate has banned the gathering of 5 people from October 13 to October 15, where Panchayat elections are being held in the jurisdiction of District Jalandhar. He said in the orders that there will be no restriction on going door to door with a group of only 4 persons during 48 hours under the door-to-door campaign.

He said that the leaders, office bearers or party workers of all political parties, who are not registered voters of the respective constituencies, will have to vacate the constituency from 4 pm on October 13 to October 15 till the end of voting. He said that on the day of polling on October 15, no political party will campaign within 100 meters of the polling station.
In the villages where Panchayat elections are to be held, liquor shops and premises will remain closed on October 15.

The District Magistrate said that liquor will not be served in the hotels, restaurants or clubs located in these villages nor will any person stock liquor.
