The traffic police has said that the speed limit rules will be changed. If you drive a car at a speed higher than this limit, then a challan of Rs 2000 will be issued. This exercise is being done to prevent accidents caused by fog and mist in winters.

UP Traffic Police has said that the speed limit will be reduced on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway. This step is being taken to protect vehicles from accidents in fog and mist during winters. Now vehicles will have to run within the prescribed speed limit on both these expressways and whoever breaks the speed limit barrier will be fined Rs 2,000 by the traffic police. The new speed limit will be implemented from 15 December to 15 February. That is, vehicles will have to be driven at low speed on both these expressways for 2 months.

150 challans were issued in a day

UP’s DCP (Traffic) Yamuna Prasad says that the number of road accidents increases due to fog and mist in winters. On top of that, there is a possibility of accidents due to high speed vehicles. In such a situation, the speed limit is being reduced on the Yamuna Expressway to curb road accidents. Earlier also, drivers have been found driving cars at high speed on this. Due to this, 150 vehicles were challaned in a single day on 7 November.

What is the speed limit on Yamuna Expressway?

The traffic police will reduce the speed limit on Yamuna Expressway from 100 kmph to 75 kmph from 15 December to 15 February. This speed limit will be applicable for light vehicles, while the speed limit for heavy vehicles has been reduced from 80 kmph to 60 kmph. The speed limit for light vehicles on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway has also been reduced from 100 kmph to 75 kmph. For heavy vehicles, the speed limit will now be 50 kmph instead of 60.

How much will the fine be?

The traffic police has also fixed the fine for those who break the speed limit. According to officials, small vehicles crossing the speed limit will be fined Rs 2000, while heavy vehicles will have to pay Rs 4000. Instructions have also been given to install fog lights on both the expressways to prevent accidents. Apart from this, the authority will also provide tea to truck drivers at night, so that they do not feel sleepy while driving.
