According to the rules, any Indian person can bring 20 grams of jewellery worth Rs 50,000 in a year. At the same time, if any child stays abroad for more than a year, then he gets an additional limit in the gold limit.
How much customs duty has to be paid
Let us tell you that duty-free allowance is applicable only on gold jewellery. If an Indian traveller brings gold bars, coins and other jewellery from abroad, then customs duty is charged according to their value. How much duty will be charged according to the weight of gold-

- Gold bars weighing less than 1 kg attract a customs duty of 10 per cent.
- Gold bars weighing between 20 grams and 100 grams attract a customs duty of 3 per cent.
- There is no customs duty on gold bars weighing less than 20 grams.
- Gold coins weighing between 20 grams and 100 grams attract a duty of 10 per cent.
- There is no customs duty on gold coins weighing less than 20 grams.
If a passenger brings gold jewellery weighing not more than 20 grams and worth less than Rs 50,000, there is no customs duty on it.
