If you also want to apply for an instant passport, then it is important to do your homework regarding the documents first. You will be able to apply and get an instant passport only when you have all the necessary documents as per the passport office. Let us look at the complete list of documents related to this, which you may need.

According to the official website of PassportSeva, to obtain a passport under the Tatkal scheme, applicants above 18 years of age can submit any three documents mentioned in the acceptable documents list along with address, birth and non-ECR proofs (as applicable). If you are an applicant below 18 years of age, then any two documents have to be submitted.
You can submit any of these documents
- PVC Aadhaar Card/Full Original Aadhaar Letter/e-Aadhaar Card or Aadhaar Card with Digital Signature Verified Mark issued by UIDAI (Small cut-out Aadhaar Cards/Smart Cards printed by non-UIDAI entities will not be accepted.)
- Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card
- Student photo ID card issued by recognized educational institutions
- Birth certificate issued under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (18 of 1969)
- Ration card (updated)
- Last issued passport (only in case of renewal)
- Voter Photo Identity Card (Voter ID Card)
- Driving License (valid and in the jurisdiction of the State to be submitted by the applicant)
- Bank Passbook or Kisan Passbook or Post Office Passbook (with applicant’s photo attested and latest transactions)
- SC or ST or OBC Certificate
- Arms Licences Issued under the Arms Act, 1959 (54 of 1959)
- Pension documents such as Ex-Servicemen Pension Book or Pension Payment Order issued to retired Government servants, Ex-Servicemen Widow or Dependent Certificate, Old Age Pension Order
- Service photo identity card issued by State/Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Local Bodies or Public Limited Companies
In this category of cases, instant passport cannot be made if…
- There is a case of major change in the name
- Whose present address is outside the jurisdiction of RPO
- Minor’s application with Annex C (for example, minors whose parents are divorced or separated, etc.)
- Applicants brought back from abroad at government expense
- Applicants who have been repatriated to India or who are travelling on Emergency Certificate
- Persons of Naga origin including minors (below 18 years of age)
- Persons of Naga origin residing outside Nagaland
- Persons of Jammu & Kashmir origin including minors (below 18 years)
- Applicants who fall under section 6(2)(e) or 6(2)(f) (relating to criminal court cases)
- Applicants with adverse police reports, those on watch lists, habitual passport losers or who have travelled on forged or fake passports in the past
in the newly released case
- Citizen of India by Registration/Naturalisation (Citizenship granted by Ministry of Home Affairs)
- Children adopted by Indian or foreign parents
- A child born out of wedlock and his or her parents are single
- Children born through surrogacy
- Minors with a single parent
in reissue condition
- Cases of lost/stolen passport
- Re-issue of short validity passports
- Cases of passports damaged beyond recognition
- Change in gender, appearance or signature
- Change/Correction in Date of Birth or Place of Birth
- Change in name of Father/Mother/Husband/Wife.
