Under this scheme, retired employees below the age of 65 years can apply for posts like supervisor and track man.

According to a report by Business Today, this job will be for two years with the option of extension. General managers of all railway zones can recruit retired people on the basis of their medical fitness and work rating in the last five years.

According to the report, to deal with the shortage of employees, the Railway Board has started a recruitment drive for 25,000 posts. Apart from this, they have introduced a plan to temporarily fill the vacant posts by re-hiring retired railway employees.

Good rating is necessary 5 years before retirement

To apply for this, applicants should have a good rating in the confidential report of the last five years before retirement. Apart from this, there should not be any vigilance or disciplinary case pending against them.

Under this scheme, the recruits will be paid their last in-hand salary after deducting the amount of their basic pension. Apart from this, they will also be given travel allowance. However, they will not get any additional benefits or salary hike.

More than 10 thousand posts are vacant in North-Western Railway alone

According to the report, the Railway Board has taken this decision in view of the increasing train accidents and shortage of employees. More than 10 thousand posts are vacant in North-Western Railway alone, due to which difficulties are being faced in operating the trains. The Board has said that it is necessary to re-employ retired employees to meet the immediate requirement of people on supervisor and other important posts.
