Sensex ends flat amid volatility in markets
1 min readIndian fairness markets closed flat on Tuesday amid volatility in the markets. At closing, Sensex was at 76,456 down 33 factors and Nifty was up 5 factors at 23,264.
Midcap and smallcap shares outperformed the largecaps. The Nifty midcap was up 430 factors or 0.81 per cent at 53,666 and the Nifty smallcap 100 closed at 17,571 up 96 factors or 0.55 per cent.
Among the sector indices, Auto, IT, PSU Bank, realty, and vitality have been main gainers. Fin Service, FMCG, and pharma have been main laggards.
L&T, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, NTPC, ExtremelyTech Cement, Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, M&M, Bajaj Finance, HCL Tech and Power Grid have been the highest gainers. Kotak Mahindra, Asian Paints, Reliance, ITC, Sun Pharma, and ICICI Bank have been the highest losers.
Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst, LKP Securities mentioned, “Nifty remained sideways throughout the day as there was no directional transfer. The sentiment may stay sideways till it breaks out of the 23,150 – 23,350 vary. Any decisive breakout on both aspect may affirm the long run route of the market.”
“On the upper finish, above 23,350, it’d transfer in the direction of 23,600. Meanwhile, assist beneath 23,150 is positioned at 23,000 – 22,900,” he added.
