Dell Layoffs: US-based tech company Dell is going to layoff its employees once again. According to a Bloomberg report, this decision is part of Dell’s large-scale effort to move towards artificial intelligence (AI) products and services.

Although Dell has not disclosed the exact number of job cuts, according to many online reports, thousands of jobs are at risk.

A layoff tracking website says that this job cut will affect about 12,500 employees. This is about 10 percent of Dell’s total workforce. The layoffs will mainly affect the sales and marketing team. Dell’s restructuring includes the formation of a new AI-focused unit. It aims to increase the company’s offerings in AI-optimized servers and data center solutions.

13000 employees were fired in 2023

Earlier, Dell had done a big layoff in early 2023. At that time Dell had cut 13,000 jobs. As of February 2024, Dell had about 120,000 full-time employees worldwide. The company’s best-run business is personal computers. Dell’s personal computer sales are struggling due to the market downturn after the pandemic. Still, shipments in the computer industry have started to pick up, and Dell hopes that the new generation of AI-optimized personal computers will boost upgrades.

The entire tech industry is currently facing a wave of layoffs. Nearly 2,000 tech companies have laid off more than 260,000 employees in 2023. Many big companies have planned more job cuts in 2024.
