According to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar (RBI bank holiday calendar), banking services will be disrupted this week due to various reasons. Let’s know the complete details.
Banks will remain closed on 11 June on account of Sant Kabir Jayanti
Banks will remain closed in Shimla and Gangtok on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 on the occasion of Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti. This day is celebrated in the memory of 15th century saint and poet Kabirdas. On this occasion, there is a holiday in those areas where this festival is religiously and culturally important. Therefore, bank services will remain suspended in these cities on that day.
Banks closed across the country on weekend
Banks are closed not only due to festivals but also due to the weekend rules fixed every month. 14 June, Saturday is the second Saturday and all banks are closed on this day (Second Saturday Bank Holiday). After this, all banks will remain closed on 15 June, Sunday as well, because it is a weekly holiday.
Thus, banks will remain closed on 11, 14 and 15 June this week in Shimla and Gangtok. Banks will also remain closed on 14 and 15 June in the rest of India. Due to weekend holidays, you should finish your work in advance.
Digital banking will work even during holidays
If you have to transact money or avail any important service during bank holidays, there is no need to panic. Most services will continue to run through net banking and mobile apps.
Online transactions like NEFT and RTGS will continue. Apart from this, there will be no impact on payments through ATM, debit-credit card and POS machine. Not only this, services like cheque book, card or locker can also be availed through online request, so, if you are planning to go to the bank branch, then definitely check about the holidays, so that you can avoid trouble.
Check the bank holiday list before leaving home
Every state in the country has its own holidays, which are based on its culture and traditions. Although banks are closed across the country on the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays, but due to lack of information about other holidays, people go to the branch at the last moment and return empty-handed. Therefore, if you are going to the bank for any important payment, deed, loan processing, or any documentation work, then first check the bank holiday list (RBI Holiday List).
