Bank Holidays: Banks will be closed for half a month in January, when are the holidays, see the complete list

New Year is just around the corner. Everyone is busy in the preparations for the New Year. In the first month of the year 2025 i.e. January, if you are planning to visit the bank to complete any important work, then definitely check the list of holidays.

This is because in January 2025, apart from weekly holidays, there will be no work in banks for 15 days due to national and regional holidays. Banks are closed on every Sunday and on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. Apart from this, banks also remain closed on festivals and some special days.

The Reserve Bank of India has released a list of bank holidays. It includes national and regional holidays. All banks across the country remain closed on national holidays. Regional holidays are related to a particular state or region. Only banks of the respective state or region remain closed on these days. It is worth noting here that banks across the country will not remain closed for 15 days in January 2025. Banks across the country will remain closed only on national and weekly holidays. Banks will remain closed in the respective state on regional holidays.

January 2025 Bank Holiday List

  • January 1, 2025: Banks will be closed across the country on Wednesday, New Year’s Day.
  • January 6, 2025: Banks will remain closed in some states, including Punjab, on Monday, on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti.
  • January 11, 2025: On the second Saturday, banks across the country will remain closed.
  • January 12, 2025: Weekly holiday on Sunday.
  • January 13, 2025: Banks will remain closed in Punjab and some other states on Monday due to the festival of Lohri.
  • January 14, 2025: Banks in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh will remain closed on Tuesday due to Sankranti and Pongal.
  • January 15, 2025: Wednesday will be a bank holiday in Tamil Nadu due to Thiruvalluvar Diwas, Tusu Puja in West Bengal and Assam.
  • January 23, 2025: Banks will remain closed in many states on Thursday to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
  • January 25, 2025: Banks across the country will remain closed on Saturday due to a weekly holiday.
  • January 26, 2025: Banks across the country will remain closed on Sunday, on the occasion of Republic Day.
  • January 30, 2025: Banks in Sikkim will remain closed on Thursday due to Sonam Losar.
