A report in Financial Express quoting sources said that the Centre has expedited the process of finalising the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the 8th Pay Commission. According to official sources, the TOR will be notified in two to three weeks and the names of the chairman and members of the panel will also be announced simultaneously.
When will the report come
The commission may be given at least one year to prepare its report. In such a case, the report can be submitted to the government by the first half of 2026. However, salary/pension revisions will be done retrospectively from January 1, 2026 and the employees will be paid the arrears.
About 7th Pay Commission
Let us tell you that the Central Pay Commission (CPC) is set up once in a decade. The last 7th Central Pay Commission was set up on 28 February 2014. It was headed by Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur and was given 18 months to submit its report. The 7th Central Pay Commission, which was implemented on 1 January 2016, increased the salary (salary and allowances) of central government employees by 23.55% and the pension by the same amount. Let us tell you that central employees are getting 55 percent of the basic salary as dearness allowance. The government increases this allowance twice a year.
