According to the weather forecast, the minimum temperature is likely to be between 25 to 27 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature can be between 33 to 37 degrees Celsius. According to the department, on Tuesday the minimum temperature is expected to be between 26 to 28 degrees and the maximum temperature is expected to be between 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, movement of light clouds will be seen.

May is the rainiest month

The IMD said that a sudden change in the weather last Saturday led to 81.4 mm rainfall in a few hours, making Delhi the rainiest month of May since 1901. The total rainfall this month has reached 186.4 mm, surpassing the previous record of 165 mm in May 2008. Sunday’s rainfall alone was the second highest recorded on a single day in the city in May. Earlier, 119.3 mm of rain was recorded on May 20, 2021.

The recent unseasonal and intense rainfall, which has made May the wettest month on record, reflects the increasing variability in India’s pre-monsoon weather pattern. “While local systems such as western disturbances contributed, the broader trend points to a warming atmosphere, which holds more moisture and disrupts the established seasonal rhythm,” said Vishwas Chitale, senior program lead at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW).
