In the financial year 2025-26, under the Chief Minister’s Electricity Consumer Assistance Scheme, the government has decided to spend 15 thousand 995 crores to provide electricity at a cheap rate to 2.13 crore electricity consumers of different categories of the state. The government will spend four percent more amount in the grant head than the last financial year.

The rate of electricity for 0 to 50 units among rural domestic consumers was Rs 2.45 per unit, which is still the same. Energy, Planning and Development Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said that electricity rates are high due to increasing cost in production, transmission and distribution. But the state government gives subsidy to provide cheap electricity to consumers. The effort is to provide affordable and continuous electricity to every household, so that Bihar’s development gets a boost.
