IHeartMedia Stock Soars On Reports Of Netflix Video Podcast Deal
1 min readiHeartMedia Inc. (NASDAQ: IHRT) shares surged 25% Tuesday following a Bloomberg report that Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX, ETR:NFC) is negotiating to license video podcast rights from the audio entertainment company.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate Netflix seeks exclusive video distribution rights to popular iHeartMedia podcasts, potentially restricting full episodes from appearing on YouTube according to Bloomberg.
The licensing deal would strengthen Netflix’s position in the growing video podcast market currently dominated by YouTube.
iHeartMedia, which operates numerous U.S. radio stations and produces hit podcasts including “The Breakfast Club” and “Las Culturistas,” could gain significant new revenue and expanded audience reach through this partnership.
The talks follow Netflix’s recent video podcast licensing agreement with Spotify, which will see several of the streaming audio platform’s top video podcasts appear on Netflix beginning in 2026.
