In his keynote address, Mr. Thakur celebrated IIT Mandi’s fusion of academic excellence and natural serenity, urging students to embrace holistic development through sports, mindfulness, and innovation. He spotlighted India’s entrepreneurial revolution, noting the startup ecosystem’s explosive growth from 350 ventures to over 1.59 lakh, with 127 unicorns reshaping industries. Championing indigenous progress, he cited India’s dominance in digital transactions via UPI/BHIM and the transformative impact of “Make in India,” framing KEF as a catalyst for grassroots entrepreneurship.

The MP also championed Himachal Pradesh’s artisan economy, calling for inventive approaches to market local crafts and cottage industries under the “Vocal for Local” banner. He challenged attendees to ideate on tech-driven solutions for rural empowerment, industrial evolution, and sustainable community economies. His wide-ranging address spanned India’s space exploration milestones, cultural heritage preservation, GST-led fiscal reforms, and the “MeraYuva Bharat” initiative—a unifying platform for youth-driven national development.

IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera underscored the fest’s alignment with the institute’s ethos, drawing parallels between the humble, eco-conscious kullhad (clay cup) and IIT Mandi’s commitment to sustainable, locally anchored progress. He reiterated the institute’s mission to cultivate innovation while staying rooted in tradition and environmental stewardship.

Prof. KanagaSabapathy highlighted ongoing research collaborations with IIT Madras exploring Indian Knowledge Systems, noting how such initiatives bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary science—a synergy embodied by KEF’s vision.

Convenor Shri Ajay Chaturvedi, renowned for his philosophical works “Kala Darsana” and “Kala Gati,” expressed appreciation for Mr. Thakur’s participation and insights during the inaugural session.

The KEF organizing committee extended heartfelt thanks to the MP, confident that his vision and engagement would inspire student delegates and amplify the fest’s impact in fostering sustainable economic models.
