Maternity Leave Policy: Now women employees will get maternity leave of 6 months instead of 4 months

The Chandrababu Naidu government of Andhra Pradesh has given a big gift to the women employees of the state as per its promise. The government has increased the maternity leave from 120 days to 180 days.

Announcement on women’s day
It is noteworthy that CM Chandrababu Naidu had made a big announcement on March 8, International Women’s Day, saying that the state government will extend maternity leave to 26 weeks for employees, which will include any number of children, not just the first two children.
Maternity leave increase 2025: “The move is aimed at encouraging family growth, addressing population balance and helping women balance their professional and personal lives,” Naidu said at the Women’s Day function held at Markapuram in Prakasam district.
Rule for two children only
Let us tell you that, currently under the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017, women are eligible for 26 weeks of leave for the first two children. If a woman already has two or more children, then maternity leave is limited to 12 weeks.
