Samsung Group’s total market capitalization exceeded 900 trillion won ($634.4 billion) for the first time on Wednesday, fueled by strong performance from subsidiary Samsung Electronics.

Data from the Korea Exchange reveals the conglomerate’s combined market value reached 907.9 trillion won ($634.4 billion), marking a significant 67% increase from 543.3 trillion won at the end of 2023.

This surge follows Samsung Electronics’ stock climbing 85.3% from 53,200 won on December 31 to 98,600 won midweek. The tech giant’s rally aligns with Wall Street’s tech sector gains and optimistic chip industry forecasts driven by artificial intelligence market expansion.

In related developments, Samsung SDI announced a collaboration with the Korea Electrical Safety Corp. (KESCO) to enhance safety standards for energy storage systems (ESS) and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. This partnership addresses anticipated growth in ESS demand linked to national energy transition policies.

A signed memorandum of understanding outlines joint efforts to develop safety protocols, accident prevention guidelines, and emergency response coordination. The agreement also incentivizes users to implement fire suppression technology and remote monitoring solutions.
