Analysts say gold and silver are likely to stay volatile in the short term, with investors watching Middle‑East geopolitics, crude‑oil price swings, and the outlook for US Federal Reserve interest‑rate moves.
MCX gold closed the week lower but held near the key psychological support of ₹1,40,000 per 10 g, analysts noted. A clear slip below that point could spark stronger selling and drag prices toward the ₹1,39,300–₹1,38,700 support band.
On the upside, the first resistance lies between ₹1,40,700 and ₹1,41,000, with the next barrier at ₹1,42,000–₹1,42,700. A steady break above these zones could boost recovery momentum and lift sentiment.
MCX silver also finished the week with a cautious negative tone, staying under important resistance. Analysts see resistance at ₹2,17,000–₹2,18,000, then at ₹2,20,000–₹2,21,000. On the downside, the ₹2,15,000–₹2,14,000 band offers immediate support; a fall beneath it could push prices toward ₹2,11,000–₹2,10,000. Overall, the outlook remains weak, and a lasting move above resistance would be needed to hint at a genuine recovery.
In the global market, COMEX gold also ended the week on a negative note while trying to stay above the vital $4,000‑per‑ounce support. A dip below that level could spur fresh selling toward $3,920–$3,900, whereas a climb above $4,050–$4,070 might push prices toward $4,120–$4,150.
COMEX silver also stayed under pressure, trying to hold above the $55–$54.50 support zone. A clear break below could deepen weakness toward $53, while a rise above $56.50–$57 could improve sentiment and possibly lift prices toward $59.
Retail bullion prices in India stayed high even as futures markets weakened. On July 18 2026, 24‑carat gold traded near ₹1,42,530 per 10 g and 22‑carat gold around ₹1,30,650 per 10 g in major centres, while 999‑pure silver was quoted at roughly ₹1,71,900 per kg.
Experts note that gold remains under pressure from global uncertainty and expectations about the US Federal Reserve’s monetary stance, whereas silver trades with a weak bias. Investors will likely keep an eye on worldwide economic data, central‑bank cues, and geopolitical events, which will shape the future direction of precious‑metal prices.
