Indian equity markets surged significantly during Tuesday’s trading session as optimism surrounding the newly finalized India-US trade pact bolstered investor sentiment.
Benchmark indices recorded robust gains, with the Sensex and Nifty both climbing over 2.5%, signaling widespread bullishness among market participants.
The Sensex concluded trading at 83,739.13 after rallying 2,072.67 points (2.54%). Similarly, the Nifty finished at 25,727.55, registering growth of 639.15 points (2.55%).
Market technicians highlighted crucial support and resistance markers: “The 25,500–25,600 range provides foundational support, while 25,900–26,000 presents substantial psychological and technical resistance.”
This market upswing followed Washington’s confirmation of tariff reductions under the new agreement, with reciprocal duties on select Indian exports decreasing to 18%.
Leading the charge on the Sensex were Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, IndiGo, and PowerGrid, all posting notable gains. Tech Mahindra and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) bucked the trend as the sole decliners.
Sectoral performance reflected universal optimism, with Realty (+4%) leading all indices. Chemical, Pharma, and Consumer Durables sectors followed closely, each registering above 3% growth.
Broader markets mirrored benchmark strength as mid-cap and small-cap indices both advanced nearly 3%, underscoring comprehensive market participation.
Currency markets echoed the upbeat mood, with the Rupee appreciating sharply by approximately 1.40% against the dollar – its strongest single-session gain in over five years.
