Stock Market Today: Sensex Rises 360 Points, Nifty Tops 24,175 as IT, Auto Stocks Lead Gains

India’s stock market closed the week higher, as the total market value of five of the nation’s ten biggest firms rose by ₹1.54 lakh crore, driven mainly by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). Experts anticipate the Sensex may probe the 79,000–79,200 band and the Nifty could aim for levels beyond 24,500 should crucial resistance be overcome.

During the week, the broader market stayed optimistic; the Sensex rose 582.06 points (0.75%) to finish at 78,151.45, and the Nifty climbed 127.4 points (0.53%) to settle at 24,334.30. Nevertheless, some profit‑taking followed the recent rally, leaving the Midcap and Smallcap indexes slightly down.

Of the ten largest companies by market cap, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), TCS and Bajaj Finance posted valuation increases, whereas HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Hindustan Unilever experienced drops.

TCS led the value creation, adding ₹72,072.3 crore to lift its market capitalisation to ₹8,20,672.70 crore. The rise came after the IT giant reported a 4.61% year‑on‑year growth in consolidated net profit for the June quarter to ₹13,349 crore and signaled an improving demand outlook, expecting the West Asia‑related weakness to ease in the current quarter.

ICICI Bank gained ₹29,062.06 crore, Reliance Industries added ₹23,884.93 crore, Bajaj Finance rose by ₹21,946.5 crore, and SBI increased by ₹7,338.34 crore.

On the downside, L&T suffered the largest loss, shedding ₹18,097.72 crore in market cap, trailed by LIC, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever.

By week’s end, Reliance Industries stayed India’s top‑valued listed firm, ahead of HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, SBI, TCS, Bajaj Finance, LIC, L&T and Hindustan Unilever.

Sensex and Nifty Outlook

Analysts anticipate that Indian equity markets will stay centered on important technical thresholds in the upcoming week.

Market experts note that the Sensex encounters immediate resistance between 78,400 and 78,600. A steady break above this band could bolster bullish sentiment and set the stage for an advance toward 79,000‑79,200.

On the downside, support is seen near 77,600‑77,300, with the pivotal 77,000 mark lying just below. A clear breach beneath 77,000 might spark fresh profit‑taking and pull the index toward 76,700‑76,500.

Regarding the Nifty, analysts observe that the index has again neared the vital 24,400‑24,500 resistance zone, aligning with a significant horizontal supply area and the 100‑week moving average around 24,490.

A breakout above this threshold could extend the recovery toward 24,700‑24,800, whereas immediate support lies at 24,000, then at 23,800.
