  • Insurance Policy: Now you will get more money on surrendering life insurance policy

Insurance regulator IRDAI has given a big relief to the policyholders and made a big change in the rules of life insurance. Now the customer will get more refund if the policy is closed before maturity.

For this, the rules of special surrender value have come into effect from October 1. This will benefit the most to those people who return the policy within a year. Now their entire money will not be lost. At the same time, the policy sold in the wrong way can also be returned easily. The amount that the company returns on closing the insurance before maturity is called surrender value. It is decided on the basis of the total premium paid.

    Rules for these policies

The new rule will be applicable only on endowment policies of life insurance. Endowment policy means a policy which has an element of savings along with insurance. With the implementation of the new rule, the margin of insurance companies in endowment policies will decrease. The new rule will not be applicable on ULIP and term insurance policies.

    Premium required for one year

Earlier, if a policyholder used to close a life insurance policy after one year, then all the money paid as premium would be lost. With the new special surrender value rules, the policyholder will be entitled to get a refund even after returning the policy after the first year. However, for this, the policyholder will have to pay the premium for at least one year, only then he will be able to take advantage of this rule.

Surrender Period Sum Assured+Bonus Surrender Value Percentage of Premium

    1 year 60,000 31,295 62.59%

    2 years 1,20,000 67,284 67.28%

    3 years 1,80,000 1,08,495 72.33%

    4 years 2,40,000 1,55,510 77.76%

    5 years 3,00,000 2,08,967 83.59%

    7 years 4,20,000 3,38,083 96.60%

    9 years 5,40,000 5,02,235 111.7%

(Note:(This calculation is based on a 10-year policy with an annual premium of Rs 50,000 and a bonus of Rs 10,000 on a sum assured of Rs 5 lakh. These are subject to change.)

Earlier this much money was returned

According to the old rules, there was no provision for refund of the premium amount paid on surrendering the policy after one year. On returning the policy after two years, 30% of the total premium paid was refunded. On returning the policy after three years, 35% was refunded, on returning the policy between four to seven years, 50% was refunded and on returning the policy two years before the maturity of the policy, 90% was refunded.

  • Indian E-commerce Market Set to Soar to $325 Billion by 2030

    E-Commerce

Indian e-commerce market poised to reach $325 billion in 2030: ReportIANS

The Indian e-commerce market is projected to reach an impressive $325 billion by 2030, according to a report by FICCI-Deloitte. This growth is propelled by robust rural demand and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21%. The retail sector, currently valued at $753 billion in FY23, is expected to post a 9.1% CAGR until FY27, the highest among large economies. Retailers are rapidly adapting to omnichannel strategies, tech-enabled experiential selling, and launching new private labels to cater to India’s price-sensitive yet aspirational consumers. The expansion of retail networks in tier 2 and 3 cities is expected to contribute significantly to this growth.

The report also highlights the role of increased smartphone penetration, internet access, and growing disposable incomes in fueling this expansion. Quick commerce, which focuses on the rapid delivery of essentials, has disrupted traditional supply chains and reshaped consumption patterns. The growth of the Indian e-commerce market is also being fueled by heightened competition from direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands, a rising focus on premiumisation, and innovative new product development tailored to the needs of young and middle-income consumers.

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has significantly influenced the e-commerce and retail sector in India by bringing millions of rural Indians into the formal financial system. This has led to a rise in credit-driven consumption in small cities and towns, which Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hailed as a revolutionary shift. The government has also lauded the meteoric rise in credit-driven consumption in small cities and towns, calling it a “revolutionary shift.” According to the central bank, household consumption is poised to grow faster as headline inflation eases “with a revival of rural demand already taking hold”.

The FICCI MASSMERIZE 2024 event emphasized the importance of quality in products and India’s efforts to establish its own standards. The event highlighted the role of innovation, technology, and consumer-centric approaches in driving growth and achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat. Generative AI is a powerful technology that leverages vast datasets to create personalized experiences and optimize various aspects of retail operations. It’s not limited to one area but offers multiple benefits across different functions. In content creation and optimization, Gen AI autonomously generates and improves product descriptions and copy, reducing the need for extensive human involvement. It also excels at providing personalized discounts by analyzing purchase history.

Blockchain technology is a decentralized ledger system that provides robust security and transparency for safeguarding digital assets in the retail sector across the digital landscape. Through its immutable and distributed nature, blockchain ensures the integrity of transactions and data, reducing fraud and enhancing trust. For example, in supply chain management, blockchain can trace the origin and journey of products, allowing customers to verify the authenticity and quality of goods. It also acts as a powerful tool for driving sustainability within the retail sector by providing retailers insight into their supply chains, promoting responsible sourcing and reducing waste. By verifying product authenticity, blockchain helps combat counterfeiting, ensuring that consumers receive genuine, quality products discouraging the production of environmentally damaging fakes.

Indian e-commerce market is poised for significant growth, driven by a combination of factors including increased rural demand, technological advancements, and government initiatives. The adoption of innovative technologies like Generative AI and blockchain is set to further revolutionize the sector, offering enhanced customer experiences, improved operational efficiency, and increased transparency and trust. As India continues to embrace the digital revolution, the future of its e-commerce market looks promising, offering immense opportunities for businesses, consumers, and the economy as a whole.

  • Cryptocurrency Market: A Deep Dive into Value and Volatility

    cryptocurrency

About 85 pc of world’s cryptocurrencies are not even worth a centIANS

AltIndex.com, a data analysis firm, revealed that approximately 85% of the world’s cryptocurrencies are worth less than one cent. This staggering statistic underscores the volatility and unpredictability of the cryptocurrency market. The total number of cryptocurrencies currently in circulation hovers between 8,500 and 10,000, with new tokens being launched every time a bull run in the crypto space begins. At the time of the report, the total number of cryptocurrencies was at a high of 9,861. However, most of these have little or practically no value.

The report further showed that 9,525, or 96% of all coins circulating in the crypto space, are worth less than a dollar. Just 131 coins were valued between 50 cents and one US dollar. Around 400 had a price tag between 50 and 10 cents, and another 548 were valued between one and 10 cents. This means a shocking 8,443 coins, or 85% of all cryptocurrencies, are worth less than a cent. The proliferation of cryptocurrencies can be attributed to the rise of blockchain technology, which allows anyone to launch a new cryptocurrency. However, the majority of these cryptocurrencies are worth very little due to various factors, including a high number of new tokens being launched with each crypto market bull run, lack of unique value proposition, limited adoption, and intense competition.

Despite the majority of cryptocurrencies having little value, the top five cryptocurrencies now make up 82% of the total crypto market cap, with a combined value of $1.78 trillion. Bitcoin accounts for 56% of the global crypto market cap, up from 48% a year ago. Ethereum makes roughly 12% of the total crypto market cap, 7% less than last year. On the day of the report, Bitcoin price was hovering around $62,800, up 1.5%, and Ethereum was also up 1.3% at nearly $2,450. The cryptocurrency market has seen significant growth and volatility over the past decade. In 2017, the market experienced a boom with the launch of numerous cryptocurrencies. However, many of these new cryptocurrencies failed to gain significant value, leading to the current situation where a large percentage of them are worth less than a cent.

Global regulator for banks red-flags crypto-assets such as Bitcoin

Global regulator for banks red-flags crypto-assets such as BitcoinIANS

This trend is not unique to the cryptocurrency market. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the dot-com bubble saw a similar trend with internet companies. Many new internet companies were launched with high expectations, but a large number of them failed to generate significant revenue and eventually went bankrupt. Looking forward, the cryptocurrency market is expected to continue its volatile trend. Some experts predict that Bitcoin, the largest and most well-known cryptocurrency, could reach a staggering $90,000 by the end of 2024. However, these predictions should be taken with a grain of salt as the cryptocurrency market is highly unpredictable and influenced by a wide range of factors, including regulatory changes, technological advancements, and market sentiment.

While the cryptocurrency market offers significant opportunities for high returns, it also carries substantial risks. The majority of cryptocurrencies are worth very little, and the market is highly volatile. Therefore, potential investors should conduct thorough research and consider their risk tolerance before investing in cryptocurrencies. It’s crucial to remember that while the potential for high returns exists, so does the potential for significant losses. As with any investment, due diligence and careful consideration are key.

DGCA issues safety guidance for Boeing 737 aircraft

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Monday asked operators of Boeing 737 aircraft with a specific rudder part to not use the planes for low-visibility landings.

The aviation safety regulator took cognisance of the recent US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) aviation investigation report, which highlights safety concerns involving Boeing 737 airplanes equipped with “Collins Aerospace SVO-730 Rudder Rollout Guidance Actuators”.

The DGCA guidance is effective for both Boeing 737 NG aircraft as well as news MAX airplane. The regulator has asked all operators to carry out a safety risk assessment too.

“Considering the potential risk of a Jammed or Restricted Rudder control system, the DGCA has issued Interim safety recommendations to all Indian operators of Boeing 737 aircraft, effective immediately,” the regulator said in a statement.

According to the DGCA, all flight crews are to be informed through a circular/advisory regarding the possibility of a Jammed or restricted Rudder control system and appropriate mitigations must be communicated to help crews identify and handle such a situation.

DGCA guidance is effective for both Boeing 737 NG aircraft as well as news MAX airplaneIANS

“All operators must conduct a Safety Risk Assessment for aircraft to evaluate and mitigate the risk associated with the Rudder control system,” as per the aviation regulator.

All Category III B approach, landing, and rollout operations (including practice or actual autoland) must be discontinued for airplanes until further notice, it added.

As per the DGCA instructions, discussion about potential Rudder control system issues must be included as a mandatory topic in Recurrent Training sessions and during pre-simulator briefings.

“Appropriate flight crew responses and mitigations should be practiced during these exercises. These interim measures aim to enhance safety and ensure that flight crews are well-prepared to handle potential Rudder control issues effectively, pending further detailed operational guidance to be issued by Boeing/FAA,” the aviation safety regulator stated.

  • PLD Space unveils its strategic plan

PLD Space unveils its strategic plan to lead the future of space access with its MIURA Next family of large reusable launchers and the LINCE manned capsule

Elche (Spain), 7 October 2024. Spain’s PLD Space today unveiled its strategic plan at the Beyond_ event, held at its new headquarters to mark the first anniversary of the successful MIURA 1 launch. The company showcased significant progress in the MIURA 5 programme, confirming that it is on course to achieve key milestones and begin its launch campaign by the end of 2025.

    Lanceurs PLD

During the presentation, PLD Space also revealed its medium- and long-term projects: MIURA Next, a new family of large reusable launchers, and LINCE, the first private manned capsule in Europe. These developments cement PLD Space’s position as a global leader in the space industry. “We will be able to launch any type of payload that serves the market, providing space transportation solutions to meet all demands,” said Executive President Ezequiel Sánchez.

Advancement of MIURA 5: paving the way for a new era in space launchers

Following the successful flight of MIURA 1 on October 7, 2023, PLD Space has continued to advance its technological and industrial capabilities, achieving key milestones in the design and manufacturing of structures, propulsion technology, and reusability systems. These innovations will be showcased and further enhanced by the MIURA 5 launcher.

Over the past year, the company has made substantial progress in the development of MIURA 5. CEO and co-founder Raúl Torres emphasized the TEPREL-C engine, the fourth generation of their proprietary liquid-fuel engine, which was successfully flight-tested with MIURA 1. This accomplishment consolidates PLD Space’s position as one of only three companies in Europe capable of developing liquid-fuel engines.

“The TEPREL-C engine, with 190 kN of thrust, is the heart of MIURA 5. It was designed and developed entirely by PLD Space to deliver reliability, stability, and cost efficiency. Additionally, this system features a high-performance turbopump, also developed by our company, demonstrating our ability to create technology that is within reach of only a few companies worldwide,” said Raúl Torres.

The company has unveiled a new re-entry and recovery system for the MIURA 5 1.2 model, an upgraded version of the launcher with improved orbital capabilities and a significantly higher payload capacity. This system, designed to enable rocket landings, will reduce operational costs and increase the launch frequency of the vehicle.

A cutting-edge launcher factory focussed on sustainability

PLD Space hosted the Beyond_ event at its new 12,500 m² production facility in Elche (Alicante), the first of its kind in Spain and one of the most advanced in Europe. This state-of-the-art factory integrates the latest production and automation technologies with the most refined industrial processes available, ensuring maximum precision and quality at every stage of manufacturing. The plant is set to produce six complete MIURA 5 launchers and 60 TEPREL-C engines by 2025.

To guarantee the reliability of its projects, each product undergoes a rigorous process from design through to launch. Raúl Verdú, CBDO and co-founder of PLD Space, explained, “MIURA 5 is designed to provide reliable, tailored, and high-frequency launch services. To ensure true value for our customers, we are leveraging the proven technology of MIURA 1, while maintaining precise orbital control with a launch schedule and mission parameters that will deliver a world-class customer experience.”

On the business front, Verdú highlighted that the company has already attracted commercial interest exceeding 596 million euros, with the first commercial flights of MIURA 5 scheduled for 2026.

New horizons: a milestone in access to space with a new family of large launchers and Europe’s first private manned capsule

“We aim to offer the market a comprehensive space transportation solution that meets 100% of flight demands,” said PLD Space CEO and co-founder Raúl Torres during his speech. To address the current unmet needs of the industry, the company has introduced its new family of large launchers, MIURA Next, which includes MIURA Next, MIURA Next Heavy, and MIURA Next Super Heavy—capable of delivering up to 50 tonnes to orbit.

The first flight of MIURA Next is planned for 2030, with its technology set to be integrated into subsequent models within the MIURA Next range. “MIURA Next Super Heavy will be one of the most powerful rockets in the world,” Torres added, “capable of delivering more than 16 tonnes to the Moon and 13 tonnes to Mars in its expendable version, and 3.6 tonnes to the Moon and 2.4 tonnes to Mars in its recoverable version.”

With this same objective in mind, PLD Space has taken a major step forward by expanding its space transportation offering with LINCE, the first manned capsule developed by a private company in Europe with an 8m3 capacity. This programme will provide Europe with the capability to send astronauts into space and return them safely to Earth, reinforcing Europe’s technological sovereignty in manned space missions.

The first tests for LINCE are scheduled to begin in 2025 to conduct its first unmanned test flight with MIURA 5 in 2028, launching from the European spaceport CSG in French Guiana, with the aim of achieving the first orbital flight in 2030. “We are confident that we are building a company with the strength and solvency to meet the challenge of providing full access to space,” concluded CEO Ezequiel Sanchez.

SPARK: a commitment to the future

As part of its mission to make space accessible to everyone, PLD Space has revealed the preliminary results of its SPARK programme, which offers free launch services for scientific and technological projects developed by students and research institutions. Spain’s first female astronaut, Sara García-Alonso, took the stage to present this initiative, emphasizing its goal to “inspire society to dream big.” Following the close of the registration period for commercial and research entities, the programme has received 98 applications from 24 countries. However, the call remains open to schools, institutes, and vocational training centres until November 15.

The event has been closed by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, who mentioned that “we have a much better organised society to make it possible for dreams to come true, so I want to highlight the ecosystem that exists in our country and that has allowed us to promote talent through projects such as PLD Space, a work full of rigour, reliability and, above all, credibility”.

    Kunal vs Bhavish

Aggrieved Ola electric customers were once again left in the lurch as Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and comedian Kunal Kamra got busy in a heated all-day spat on Sunday over the poor conditions at the EV company’s service centres across the country.

Amid the online exchange of words between the duo, the plight of Ola Electric customers resurfaced.

“Bhavish your words are empty… Ground reality doesn’t match with our words. I think u need to get out of ur AC rooms & armchair & hit the ground for better understanding,” posted an angry X user on the social media platform.

Another commented: “My own scooter has been in their service centre for the last 10 days, and they’re not even telling me when I’ll get it back. This is the third time. Last time, they took a month to replace a blown fuse. What program have they enrolled me in?”

He reacted to Aggarwal’s post that Ola Electric has “enough programmes for our customers if they face service delays”.

Another X user asked the Ola Electric CEO: “So tell me why one customer set ablaze one of your showroom for poor customer service?”

An aggrieved Ola Electric customer torched its showroom in Karnataka last month, as the company’s social media platforms were flooded with complaints about its EV scooters.

Ola Electric’s flagship S1 series EV scooter has turned out to be a nightmare for several customers as they continue to face issues like malfunctioning hardware and glitching software even from day one after purchase.

“The truth is, both your product and service models have failed. Now you’re yelling at customers for pointing out the issues?. Focus on fixing your failed products and service model. No wonder your share price is declining daily, and your company isn’t profitable,” posted another X user.

As per reports, Ola Electric receives around 80,000 complaints monthly, overwhelming its service centres. On peak days, complaints rise to 6,000-7,000.
