  • 7th Pay Commission: Central employees’ salary will increase this much during Navratri, check the complete calculation

7th Pay Commission: Central government employees are eagerly waiting for the announcement of Dearness Allowance (DA) in October 2024.

Although no official information has been given yet, it is expected that the government will announce a DA hike of 3% to 4% before Diwali. This hike will be considered effective from July 1, 2024, which will increase the salary of the employees. Also, the arrears of DA applicable from July will also come with the salary.

How much will the salary increase?

If an employee’s basic salary is ₹18,000 per month, then a 3% increase will increase his salary by ₹540 monthly. If DA increases by 4%, the salary will increase by ₹720 monthly. For example, if someone’s total salary is ₹30,000 and out of that ₹18,000 is basic pay, then according to the current 50% DA, he gets ₹9,000 as dearness allowance. After a 3% increase, it will become ₹9,540 and after a 4% increase, it will become ₹9,720.

DA and DR: What’s the difference?

DA is given to government employees while DR i.e. dearness relief is added to the pension of pensioners. Both are revised twice a year – in January and July. However, whenever the government announces it, it is considered applicable only from January and July. This time the increase in DA and DR will benefit more than one crore government employees and pensioners.

    How is DA decided?

The increase in dearness allowance is announced on the basis of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). The central government revises DA based on the average of the last 12 months, which is usually announced in March and September.

8th Pay Commission: Employees’ expectations increased

The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission were implemented from January 2016 and now 10 years are about to be completed. Although there has been no official announcement of the 8th Pay Commission, employees are expecting its formation soon. According to reports, the 8th Pay Commission may increase the minimum salary to ₹ 34,560, while the pension may also increase to ₹ 17,280. The government has not yet taken any decision on the 8th Pay Commission, but employees are hoping that it will be announced soon.

  • CM Revanth Reddy to inaugurate the three-day G-SPARC 2024

Chief Minister to launch the state AMR plan during the conference. Just six states in India have this plan in place and once the plan is launched Telangana will be the 7th state in India

Hyderabad, September 30, 2024…… The Telangana Chief Minister Shri A Revanth Reddy, is to be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the prestigious three-day conference Global South Conference on Infection Prevention, Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship.

Shri Damodar Rajanarsimha, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare will be the guest of honour.

Shri Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the conference and launch the state AMR Plan. Six states in India have this plan in place and once the plan is unveiled by the Chief Minister during the conference, Telangana is going to be the 7th state in India to have AMR plan in place.

The three-day conference will be held at Shilpakala Vedika in Hitech City, Madhapur in the city from 3rd to 5th October Dr Ranga Reddy Burri, President, Infection Control Academy and Chair, G-SPARC and R. Govind Hari, Chairman of the Pragyaan Sustainable Health Outcomes Foundation (PRASHO), and Co-chair, G-SPARC informed in a press conference held on Monday in the city.

    R. Govind Hari and Ranga Reddy Burri

The objective of the conference, according to them, is to provide a platform for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Patient Safety stakeholders from Global South (resource-limited countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America) to collaborate for better policies, research, tailored solutions and practices on IPC, AMS and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) and pandemic preparedness.

The organizers highlighted that antimicrobial resistance (AMR) impacts people of all ages and transcends borders, affecting every country. However, the burden is disproportionately heavier on developing nations and vulnerable populations. This necessitates tailored solutions to address the unique challenges faced by the Global South. Therefore, collaborative efforts and South-South cooperation are essential in tackling global health threats like AMR.

Some of the prominent speakers at the conference include Dr Anuj Sharma, WHO India Office; Prof Chedly Azzouz, Chairperson, Infection Control Africa Network; Prof. (Dr.) Atul Goel, DGHS & Director, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); Ms Shailaja Teacher, MLA and Former-Health Minister, Govt of Kerala

G-SPARC 2024 is organized by the Infection Control Academy of India (IFCAI), University of Hyderabad (UoH), and Pragyaan Sustainable Health Outcomes Foundation (PRASHO) with support from more than a hundred distinguished partners from academia, industry, healthcare organizations, and professional associations.

Addressing a press conference at FTCCI in Red Hills Dr Ranga Reddy said, covid is nothing compared to ‘AMR”. Covid had a beginning and end. AMR is not like that. It is a slow pandemic and it will be an eternal pandemic.

Due to the excessive usage of Antibiotics, even easily treatable diseases like Typhoid have become impossible to treat. AMR is invisible. 5 million have already died due to this and several million will be losing their lives.

Due to the ineffectiveness of the antibiotics, every second infection treatment is failing in India and Africa, Ranga Reddy said.

AMR is threatening our health systems in ways that we cannot even imagine. This silent pandemic is the indiscriminate usage of antibiotics. Eight lakh people are dying each year in India because of not being treated with antibiotics. And this is likely to increase by 10 million deaths each year. This number may go up to 1 crore by 2050. Modern medicine may be in danger of extinction due to bacterial resistance infections. The excessive use of Antibiotics and PainKillers is very dangerous. Since 1929 when Prof Alexander Fleming discovered antibiotics i.e Penicillin, within 90-plus years different types of antibiotics were developed/produced. Now we are using the 6th generation of Antibiotics. Minimize the use of antibiotics and painkillers. We need to seek alternative measures, he said. The experts attending G-SPARC 2024 will deliberate these many other things, he added.

Dr Ranga Reddy and Govind Hari welcomed the Nations General Assembly (UNGA)’s recent decision to reduce human deaths from AMR by 10% by 2030

The outcome marks a significant milestone in our fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), they added

AMR containment is everyone’s business. Every citizen has a role to play in protecting the efficacy of antibiotics

An action plan on AMR by the state government will be released during the conference. A white paper on pandemic preparedness, prevention of pandemics etc will be released at the end of the conference.

The Government of Telangana recognised the importance of this conference and sponsored the venue, ‘Shilpakalavedika’, informed R. Govind Hari

Over 1600 (sixteen hundred) delegates are expected to participate and deliberate.

  • Millions of PMJDY bank accounts join mainstream, help companies sell more in rural India

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana would fight poverty in the country: Modi

Millions of PMJDY bank accounts helping companies boost sales in rural IndiaIANS

There has been a significant uptick in rural private consumption in India, thanks to the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), which has helped millions open bank accounts seamlessly and join the mainstream.

There has been a definitive surge in household consumption in tier 2, 3 and 4 cities and even beyond, as evident in sales growth of two-wheelers, ACs, refrigerators, smartphones and FMCGs in small towns and cities.

According to the industry, various consumer financing options, made available after the new bank accounts were opened under the PMJDY — launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 28, 2014 — has made this stupendous growth possible.

The purchase of two-wheelers in rural India is now at 62 per cent, more than the urban growth (58 per cent) this fiscal to date.

There has been a surge in auto loans for car ownership as people from tier 2, 3 cities and beyond now opt for longer-tenure financing options to afford the latest vehicles. As per reports, auto companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra and Tata Motors feel that finance penetration will rise to up to 84 per cent this year from 75 per cent in the pre-pandemic era.

A continued momentum in discretionary spending of consumers, coupled with a favourable price effect, has helped private final consumption expenditure (PFCE) pick up, said a latest Bank of Baroda (BoB) report.

According to Kantar Worldpanel, FMCG volumes in the rural market could equal those in the urban market, which is higher at present. The rural FMCG market is more valuable to the industry than before and is generating almost half the volume and value for the sector.

PMJDY has integrated the poor into the economic mainstream, playing a crucial role in the development of marginalised communities

PMJDY has integrated the poor into the economic mainstream, playing a crucial role in the development of marginalised communitiesIANS

As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), household consumption is poised to grow faster in the second quarter of the current fiscal (FY25) as headline inflation eases, with a revival of rural demand already taking hold.

PMJDY has integrated the poor into the economic mainstream, playing a crucial role in the development of marginalised communities, according to the government.

The success of the initiative is reflected in 53 crore people having been brought into the formal banking system through the opening of Jan Dhan Accounts.

According to the government, these bank accounts have garnered a deposit balance of Rs 2.3 lakh crore and resulted in the issuance of over 36 crore free-of-cost RuPay cards, which also provide for a Rs 2 lakh accident insurance cover.

With the support of banks, insurance companies and state governments, we are moving towards a more financially inclusive society and PMJDY would always be remembered as a game changer for financial inclusion in the country.
