    NEW DELHI:  Dr. Sitaram Jindal, the visionary pioneer in philanthropy and healthcare, was conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award by the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday. The ceremony, graced by the Prime Minister and distinguished dignitaries, marked a momentous occasion recognizing Dr. Jindal’s exceptional contributions to society.

    Born on 12th September 1932 in the serene village of Nalwa, Haryana, Dr. Sitaram Jindal’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. His entrepreneurial acumen as the founder Chairman of Jindal Aluminium Limited (JAL) has been instrumental in sculpting India’s largest aluminium extrusion manufacturer. Yet, his vision transcends beyond business. His contributions extend to the establishment of the S. Jindal Charitable Foundation, numerous trusts, hospitals, schools, and colleges, showcasing his unwavering commitment to yeomen services.

    Dr. Jindal’s academic pursuits led him to Calcutta University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1957, followed by a doctorate in Naturopathy. A transformative experience during his college days, where he overcame a seemingly incurable condition of abdominal tuberculosis through fasting, enemas, and yoga, ignited his passion for drugless healing. This passion culminated in the establishment of the Jindal Naturecure Institute (JNI) in 1979 in Bangalore, which has garnered global acclaim for its humanitarian approach to treating acute and chronic diseases. In contrast to conventional naturecure treatments prevalent at the time, Dr. Jindal embarked on a mission to modernize and innovate this overlooked science.

    Under Dr. Jindal’s visionary leadership, JNI has become a world-class facility specializing in the successful treatment of various ailments, from asthma and diabetes to arthritis and even certain cases of cancer. The institute, with 550 fully occupied beds year-round, serves as a beacon of hope for those seeking drug-free alternatives worldwide. Dr. Jindal’s groundbreaking contribution lies in the innovation and introduction of ‘DETOXIFICATION,’ a highly effective drugless procedure that scientifically and safely cleanses different systems in the body. This innovation has revolutionized preventive care, preventing and curing numerous diseases.

    Dr. Jindal has received accolades from eminent personalities, including former Prime Ministers such as    Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shri Chandrashekhar, Shri I.K. Gujral, Shri Dev Lalji,  Shri Ramakrishna Hegde, Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and many VIPs / dignitaries.     Dr. Jindal’s commitment to preventive care aligns with his belief that naturopathy can alleviate the burden on allopathic hospitals, transforming the lives of millions globally.  Dr. Jindal’s groundbreaking contributions extend beyond healthcare and philanthropy, notably in his role in introducing the Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) scheme by the government. His strenuous efforts over 15 years, and the ongoing struggle to increase the percentage, highlight his relentless pursuit of societal betterment.

    PUNE: Wellington College International Pune (WCIP), one of Pune’s most distinguished international schools, is organizing a week-long celebration of literature from April 22nd to April 26th in honor of international ‘World Book Day.’ The festival, designed for both Junior and Senior school students, features renowned author, producer, and filmmaker Dr. Manjiri Prabhu, along with internationally acclaimed award-winning author and poet Prof. Randhir Khare.

    The festival began with a talk by Prof. Khare where he spoke about ‘Bringing words to life’. With a passion for storytelling and an unwavering belief in the power of words, Prof. Khare embarked on a journey to light the imagination of budding writers. The talk was followed by a creative writing workshop where Junior and Senior school students were encouraged to shed their inhibitions to embrace the realm of creativity. Through a series of innovative activities, Prof. Khare guided students to discover more about themselves, encouraging them to find their voices and viewpoints.

    Speaking at the event, Prof. Khare said, “The idea of a literary festival at a school like WCIP is wonderful since children here are from different nationalities and it opens up their minds to a world of possibilities beyond nationhood.     Throughout the week, students will delve into a diverse range of events including spelling bees, extemporaneous speaking, graphic story writing, and a thrilling Wordle Wizard competition. Senior school students will also study the timeless works of William Shakespeare and explore the poetry of Robert Frost. Additionally, the school will host a scholastic book fair, inviting students of all ages to explore a variety of literary treasures and immerse themselves in a world of stories and imagination.

    Dr. Manjiri Prabhu, who shared her thoughts with students on the importance of literature, said “Literary festivals like these are extremely essential for one’s personal, emotional, and intellectual growth – a prerequisite to maintain peace in society. Literature nudges deep thoughts and triggers thinking that eventually helps one grow to become a better human being. It is important to immerse oneself in various genres to expand one’s literary horizons and gain inspiration from different voices”.

    INDIA: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved CRISIL ESG Ratings & Analytics Ltd (CRISIL ESG Ratings), a wholly owned subsidiary of CRISIL Ratings Ltd (CRL), as a Category 1 provider of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings.

    Says Amish Mehta, Managing Director and CEO, of CRISIL Ltd, “It is our stated aim to grow sustainably and we are excited to have a license that reinforces our stewardship of this space. The approval comes at an opportune time when ESG disclosures have been improving and there is increasing realization in the financial markets on the need for independent ESG ratings that will support decision-making for issuers and investors, and channel funds towards sustainable growth of the Indian economy.”

    The approval follows SEBI notifications amending the SEBI (Credit Rating Agencies) Regulations, 1999 to include provisions on ESG Rating Providers (ERPs). According to, and to comply with, these notifications, CRISIL ESG Ratings was incorporated.

    CRISIL is the pioneer of credit ratings in India and has steered many innovations in the space over the past 37 years.

    CRISIL Ltd launched its ESG ‘scoring’ business in 2021 and gradually expanded coverage from 225 to ~1,000 companies across ~65 sectors. This business will now be transferred to CRISIL ESG Ratings.

    Says Gurpreet Chhatwal, Managing Director, CRISIL Ratings, “The ESG scores, which will henceforth be called ‘ESG ratings’, have already found traction among market participants. These are based on a unique India-specific framework that factors nuances at the sectoral level while guided by global best practices.
