Wham’s evergreen ‘Last Christmas’ becomes number one track on UK Christmas chart 40 years after its release

Nearly 40 years because it was launched, Wham’s evergreen track ‘Last Christmas’ has been named the highest music on the Official Charts Christmas record by BBC Radio 1.

The festive traditional, which has been preferred by followers for many years now, beat prime contender Sam Ryder to succeed in the number one spot.

(*40*) the record, Mariah Carey stood third whereas Noah Kahn’s Stick Season ended fourth.

Interestingly, it’s the first time that the long-lasting music by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley grew to become the number one track on Christmas week.

“It’s marvellous and humbling to have gotten there,” Ridgeley advised the BBC. “Top of the pile is a superb place to be.”

He mentioned Michael all the time needed the music to be a number-one track throughout Christmas.

Released in 1984, and written and produced by George Michael, the music has been coated by many artists since its authentic release.

Wham Official additionally wrote on Instagram: “WHAM!’s #LastChristmas is FINALLY the UK’s Official Christmas Number 1 single! Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael’s festive favorite breaks UK Official Chart data because it claims the coveted #XmasNo1 trophy.”

George Michael died in 2016.
