Danish PM Mette Frederiksen attacked by man in Copenhagen

A man has been arrested for allegedly attacking Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen.

“Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was hit by a man Friday night on Kultorvet [public square] in Copenhagen. The man was subsequently arrested,” the prime minister’s workplace stated as quoted by CNN.

The Prime Minister stated she was ‘shocked’ by the incident.

It continues to be not clear whether or not she was harm in the alleged assault.

Danish Minister of Environment Magnus Heunicke stated the incident shocked the Prime Minister and those that are carefully related along with her.

“Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was right now assaulted and overwhelmed by a man on Kultorvet in Copenhagen.

“Mette is of course shocked by the assault. I need to say that it shakes all of us who’re near her,” he stated.

“Something like this should not occur in our stunning, protected and free nation. We all have a duty to take care of one another and the values our nation is constructed on. The police have arrested a man for the assault.Let’s take a transparent and sharp distance and as an alternative transfer collectively and deal with one another. Regardless of political disagreements, election marketing campaign and so forth. This is ugly and unacceptable,” the minister stated.

“Let’s present that Denmark is a lot better,” the minister stated.

European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen described the incident as a ‘despicable act’ and condemned it.

“Dear @Statsmin Mette, I used to be so shocked on the information of you being assaulted tonight.I condemn this despicable act which matches towards every little thing we imagine and combat for in Europe,” she stated.

Extending assist to the Danish chief, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa posted on X: “Deeply shocked by the outrageous assault on my colleague and pal, Prime Minister of #Denmark Mette Frederiksen.”
