Lamitiye: Indian Army contingent departs for Seychelles to participate in joint military exercise
2 min readAn Indian Army contingent departed for Seychelles on Sunday (March 17, 2024) to participate in the tenth version of Joint Military Exercise “Lamitiye-2024” between the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF).
The Joint Exercise will likely be performed in Seychelles from 18-27 March 2024. ‘Lamitiye’ which means ‘Friendship’ in the Creole language is a biennial coaching occasion and has been performed in Seychelles since 2001.
45 personnel every from the Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army and Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) will participate in the exercise.
The exercise goals to improve interoperability in sub-conventional operations in semi-urban environments below Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter on Peacekeeping Operations.
Importance of the exercise
The exercise goals to improve cooperation and interoperability between either side throughout Peace Keeping Operations.
The exercise goals to construct and promote bilateral military relations in addition to exchanging abilities, experiences and good practises between each armies.
“Both sides will collectively practice, plan and execute a sequence of well-developed tactical drills for neutralisation of doubtless threats which may be encountered in Semi-Urban setting, whereas exploiting and showcasing new-generation gear and expertise,” learn a press release issued by the Indian authorities.
The 10-day-long Joint Exercise will embody Field Training Exercise, fight discussions, lectures and demonstrations, which culminate with two days of Validation Exercise.
“The exercise will contribute immensely to creating mutual understanding and enlarge jointness between the troops of each the Armies. The Exercise will even foster collaborative partnership and assist in sharing greatest practises between the 2 sides,” the assertion mentioned.
