Paris Olympics: Indian hockey team breaks 52-year-old jinx against Australia
1 min readIt took India 52 years and several editions of the Olympic games, but the monkey is finally off their back. The team managed to defeat the Australian at the games for the first time in 52 years.
India won the game 3-2, riding on the back of a brace by Harmanpreet Singh and another goal by Abhishek. For the men down under, Thomas Craig and Blake Govers scored one each.
The win has placed India at the second spot in Pool B. They are now placed below Belgium and above Australia.
India started their Paris Olympics campaign with a win against New Zealand. While they held Argentina to a draw, the Indian men overcame the Ireland challenge.
India now have 10 points from five matches. They have qualified for the next round.
