A drone strike carried out by the US in Baghdad has killed a senior commander of an Iran-backed militia, the Central Command stated on Tuesday (February 7,2024).

The senior commander belonged to Kata’ib Hezbollah.

“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces carried out a unilateral strike in Iraq in response to the assaults on U.S. service members, killing a Kata’ib Hezbollah commander chargeable for straight planning and taking part in assaults on U.S. forces in the area,” Centcom stated in a press release.

The Central Command stated no casualty or collateral injury has been reported up to now.

“The United States will proceed to take obligatory motion to guard our folks. We is not going to hesitate to carry accountable all those that threaten our forces’ security,” the assertion stated.

Kataib Hezbollah group has claimed duty for a number of assaults on U.S. forces in Iraq.

Last week, the group stated it will not goal US troops.
