The incident occurred near the city’s central train station, prompting a large-scale police operation.

Authorities have detained the driver and confirmed that he no longer poses a threat, reports said.

Police have not yet provided details as to whether the crash was intentional.

However, local broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk reported that the injured individuals were taking part in a demonstration related to a strike organised by the Verdi union.

The union has stated that it has no information regarding the incident.

Munich police have also confirmed that traffic disruptions are expected near the accident site and have urged citizens to avoid the area.

The crash comes just a day before the start of the Munich Security Conference, which will be attended by prominent leaders, including US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
