The Reserve Bank of India has approved the extension of Raghavendra Srinivas Bhat’s tenure as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank.

In a Saturday stock exchange filing, the bank confirmed the RBI granted a one-month extension effective October 16, 2025. This extension will remain until the appointment of a permanent MD and CEO, whichever occurs first.

Bhat began his term as MD and CEO on July 16, 2025, initially appointed for three months. His nearly four-decade career at Karnataka Bank includes prior leadership roles such as Chief Operating Officer.

To maintain operational continuity after recent executive departures, Bhat was appointed COO on July 2, 2025, following his retirement as Chief General Manager.

The bank’s board accepted former MD and CEO Srikrishan Hari Hara Sarma’s resignation on June 29, effective July 15, 2025. Sarma cited personal reasons including relocation plans to Mumbai.

Executive Director Sekhar Rao also resigned on June 29, effective July 31, 2025, referencing relocation challenges to Mangaluru among personal considerations.
