Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra has directed the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDBRT) to concentrate on advancing practical banking technologies, with emphasis on security and customer-friendly solutions.

“Operational systems must enhance data portability and user control over personal information,” he stated during his review of the RBI-established Hyderabad institute.

During Thursday’s campus visit, Malhotra urged IDBRT to create robust strategies to combat digital fraud, aiming to preserve public confidence in digital banking systems.

The Governor highlighted the critical need for comprehensive IT training programs for banking professionals to adapt to digital transformation. “Expanding training delivery through multiple channels—on-site and online—is essential to meet growing demands,” noted an IDRBT release.

He further advised the institute to develop scalable approaches that align with emerging technological shifts and banking sector requirements to effectively address industry challenges.
