Chola MS records 6.7% growth in Gross Written Premium in Q1FY27, profit falls
2 min readCholamandalam MS General Insurance Company (Chola MS), the joint venture of the Murugappa Group and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group of Japan, announced a net profit of ₹86 crore for the quarter ended June 2026 (Q1FY27), compared with ₹107 crore in the same period a year earlier.
Gross Written Premium (GWP) reached ₹2,130 crore, marking a 6.7 % year‑on‑year increase from ₹1,997 crore recorded in the prior year’s corresponding quarter, the insurer noted in its release.
The company’s net worth rose to ₹3,415 crore as of June 30, 2026, up from ₹3,106 crore a year ago. Its solvency ratio was 1.93×, and the return on equity for the quarter (non‑annualized) stood at 2.52 %.
In the quarter, Chola MS expanded its cash‑less network to more than 18,000 garages and over 13,900 hospitals, facilitating quicker and smoother claim processing for policyholders nationwide.
