HDFC Bank hikes lending rates by up to 10 bps across tenors
1 min readHDFC Bank, a private‑sector lender, has raised its Marginal Cost of funds‑based Lending Rate (MCLR) by as much as 10 basis points across all tenors, effective June 8 2026.
The largest increase, 10 basis points, applies to two‑year loans, moving the rate from 8.45 % to 8.55 %.
According to HDFC Bank’s website, the one‑year MCLR was lifted by 5 basis points to 8.40 %. This benchmark rate underpins most consumer loans, including auto, personal and home financing.
The overnight, three‑month, six‑month and three‑year MCLRs each rose by 5 basis points, reaching 8.10 %, 8.20 %, 8.35 % and 8.65 % respectively.
The decision follows the Reserve Bank of India’s recent move to hold rates steady for a second consecutive meeting, citing concerns over higher energy costs and supply chain disturbances linked to the West Asia situation.
