Karnataka Bank appoints Parthasarathi Periaswamy as Additional Director – The HinduBusinessLine

Karnataka Bank Ltd has named Parthasarathi Periaswamy as an Additional Director (Non‑Executive, Independent) for a four‑year term starting July 29, 2026, pending shareholder approval.

Periaswamy brings more than thirty years of expertise in technology and cybersecurity, having held senior positions within India’s financial industry.

According to a media release, as the former Chief Information Security Officer and Chief General Manager (IT) of the Reserve Bank of India, he was instrumental in developing national cybersecurity policies, upgrading critical infrastructure, and bolstering resilience throughout the banking sector.

He served as Chief Technology Officer at the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology, overseeing IT infrastructure, trust services, and the national threat intelligence platform. He also led the CISO Forum and organized nationwide cyber‑exercises, promoting cooperation and readiness among banks.

Previously, he consulted for the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub on cybersecurity initiatives in finance. The statement notes that he served on the Board of Indian Financial Technology and Allied Services (IFTAS), an RBI subsidiary, from 2019 to 2021, supervising technology governance and broad IT initiatives across the sector.
