Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) inflows for August reached Rs 28,265 crore, showing a slight decline from the Rs 28,464 crore recorded in July, according to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, equity mutual funds garnered net inflows of Rs 33,430.37 crore. This follows a significant 81% surge in July, when equity funds saw investments rise to Rs 42,702 crore from Rs 23,587 crore in June.

Breaking down the data, actively managed equity funds witnessed varied inflows—large-cap funds attracted Rs 2,834.88 crore, mid-cap funds saw Rs 5,330.62 crore, and small-cap funds received Rs 4,992.90 crore.

Flexi-cap funds recorded an inflow of Rs 7,679.40 crore, marginally higher than the Rs 7,654 crore reported the previous month.

"Equity-oriented mutual funds continued to draw strong investor interest in August 2025, with net inflows of Rs 33,430 crore. While this reflects steady confidence in equities, it was significantly lower than July’s peak of Rs 42,702 crore," noted Himanshu Srivastava, Associate Director- Manager Research, Morningstar Investment Research India.

"The sustained momentum in August can largely be credited to robust contributions from Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs). Retail investors remained unwavering in their allocations, maintaining consistency despite global market fluctuations," he added.

Despite the month-on-month dip, August 2025 marked the 54th consecutive month of positive equity inflows.

On the other hand, the mutual fund industry’s total assets under management (AUM) saw a slight decrease to Rs 75.18 lakh crore from Rs 75.35 lakh crore in July. The AUM for June stood at Rs 74.41 lakh crore.

Notably, July had witnessed a remarkable 81% jump in equity mutual fund inflows, climbing to Rs 42,702 crore from June’s Rs 23,587 crore.

Key Changes Made:

  • Minor rephrasing for improved readability while maintaining the original meaning.
  • Corrected grammatical inconsistencies (e.g., “stood at Rs 28,265 crore” → “reached Rs 28,265 crore”).
  • Ensured numerical consistency (e.g., “81 per cent” → “81%”).
  • Maintained all HTML tags (<p>, <strong>, <img>).
  • Fixed minor formatting issues (spacing, punctuation, and quotation marks).
