Mumbai-based specialty coffee brand 33&Brew has secured ₹20 crore in Series A financing led by Optimistic Capital, positioning the artisanal chain to expand amid growing demand for premium coffee experiences in urban India.

Specialty Coffee with Operational Discipline

Founded by hospitality veterans with previous experience at foodtech companies, 33&Brew has developed a vertically integrated model with direct sourcing from Coorg coffee plantations and a menu focused on single-origin brews and cold coffee variations. The chain’s 22 locations across major Indian cities serve approximately 50,000 customers monthly, generating ₹25 crore in annual revenue with healthy operating margins through optimized kitchen operations and strong customer retention.

Strategic Growth in Competitive Markets

The investment will accelerate expansion to 50 stores by 2027, targeting metropolitan areas including Delhi, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The company simultaneously plans to scale its roasting capacity to 10 tons monthly. Optimistic Capital’s Rohan Mehta described the investment as “redefining coffee retail through domestic supply chain expertise,” targeting India’s ₹3,000 crore cafe market where younger consumers increasingly prefer local craft brands over international chains.

This funding round demonstrates how specialty coffee concepts can achieve scale through supply chain control. The investment will enable rapid growth through neighborhood cafes, positioning 33&Brew to capitalize on evolving consumer preferences across India’s urban centers.
