Birdseyeview Secures SevenFigure Funding To Expand Ai Wildfire Modeling

London-based insurtech firm BirdsEyeView, supported by the European Space Agency (ESA), has secured a significant seven-figure funding round. Announced on January 14, 2026, this investment underscores efforts to modernize risk modeling through real-time satellite data, moving beyond outdated historical approaches.

The funding was spearheaded by venture capital firm 24 Haymarket, with continued support from existing investors SFC Capital and ACF Investors.

Evolving Wildfire Threat Demands Innovation

Wildfires have surged from causing 1% of global insured catastrophe losses pre-2015 to approximately 7% in the past decade. Traditional risk models fail to address this shift, as climate change pushes severe fire activity into regions like the UK and Northern Europe—areas previously considered low-risk.

Key Innovations Driving Change:

  • Hyperlocal Risk Assessment: Delivers granular risk scoring for individual properties.

  • AI-Powered Satellite Analysis: Processes over 300 billion data points—integrating terrain, vegetation, and infrastructure details—using ESA satellite imagery and machine learning.

  • Advanced Ignition Tracking: Uniquely models both human-related and climate-induced fire triggers.

Global Expansion Targets High-Risk Markets

Following a 200% revenue surge in 2025, the investment will focus on three strategic priorities:

  1. AI Model Advancement: Enhancing wildfire prediction systems after Australian trials showed 61% greater accuracy.

  2. Scientific Team Growth: Expanding climate science expertise to refine multi-hazard software covering floods, wind, and earthquakes.

  3. Market Acceleration: Scaling operations in North America and Australia, where insurers face mounting wildfire liabilities.

“AI streamlines data processing, freeing our scientists to focus on cutting-edge analysis. This ensures our models adapt dynamically to climatic shifts.”James Rendell, CEO and Founder, BirdsEyeView.

Industry Adoption Gains Momentum

BirdsEyeView now serves more than 20 global insurers and brokers, including Allianz, AXA XL, Aon, and Liberty Specialty Markets. Its real-time exposure management platform helps underwriters replace guesswork with data-driven decisions.

Jamie Dunnett, Investment Director at 24 Haymarket, emphasized: “With strong traction in specialty insurance, BirdsEyeView is poised to revolutionize broader property risk markets in 2026.”
