Bengaluru, India: Fibroheal Woundcare Private Limited, a pioneer in silk‑based biomaterials for advanced wound care and the medtech sector, has secured ₹14 crore in fresh capital to accelerate its next growth phase, reinforce market leadership, and pursue opportunities in developed markets.

The investment round brought together seasoned backers from healthcare, finance, and life sciences. Participants included Dr. Naresh Bhat, one of India’s top gastrointestinal and endoscopy specialists; Joseph Thomas, co‑head of First Families at a leading Indian wealth‑and‑asset‑management firm; Bharat Tandon, a silk advocate and former animal‑health entrepreneur who built VETCARE (later joint‑ventured with PROVIMI and sold to CARGILL); Vikas K. S.; and Vivek Mishra, CEO of Fibroheal. Earlier supporters such as KITVEN Funds also took part.

In mid‑2025, Fibroheal facilitated a successful secondary exit for Telama Investment, an early believer, delivering an impressive 29.6 % internal rate of return. Telama is linked to Mr. S. Subramanian, founder of Sutures India, now Healthium Medtech (backed by KKR). Over the years, Fibroheal has cultivated a strong investor ecosystem comprising KITVEN Funds, C‑CAMP, BIRAC, the Department of Biotechnology (Government of India), the Central Silk Board, the Ministry of Textiles, Karnataka’s IT, BT & ST department, and numerous industry veterans. The company holds nine granted patents and maintains more than thirty academic collaborations.

Fibroheal reported a 77 % revenue increase in the first quarter of FY 2026‑27 compared with the same period of FY 2025‑26. Its products are now used in over 500 hospitals across India, gaining wide acceptance among surgeons and healthcare professionals for innovative wound‑management solutions, and have treated more than 150,000 patients to date.

In February 2025, Fibroheal partnered with U.S.–based SYLKE, which focuses on postoperative care; a joint study is currently underway at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore evaluating silk‑protein‑based formulations for donor‑site applications.

Leadership comments:
– Dr. Naresh Bhat said he increased his stake after seeing the promise of silk‑protein wound care, noting rapid healing in many patients using Fibroheal’s Ag powder and bandages.
– Joseph Thomas remarked that his prior support has been rewarded by steady growth and he believes the company is poised for exponential expansion.
– Bharat Tandon, co‑founder with Vivek Mishra, emphasized silk’s untapped potential as a non‑allergenic, non‑cytotoxic, biocompatible material, praising Fibroheal’s achievements and expressing confidence in its ability to multiply the economic impact of silk proteins in medtech and biotech.
– Vivek Mishra added that the new capital will bolster the company’s global reach, accelerate biomaterial‑based breakthroughs addressing critical clinical needs, and enable regulatory readiness for international markets. He highlighted two forthcoming products—Fibroplug ORC, a bioresorbable agent to control intra‑operative bleeding, and a bone‑regenerative solution for infected bone injuries and complex orthopedic recoveries—slated for launch in FY 2027.
