Ola Electric Mobility has confirmed the departure of Vishal Chaturvedi, Head of Cell Operations, marking a significant leadership change for the company in the new year. Chaturvedi officially exited the role on December 31, 2025, attributing his resignation to personal reasons, according to a regulatory disclosure.
Appointed in 2022 to lead Ola’s battery cell division, Chaturvedi was instrumental in advancing the company’s in-house lithium-ion cell manufacturing initiatives. His work focused on scaling battery production for electric scooters and motorcycles—a key pillar of Ola’s strategy to localize supply chains, cut import dependency, and enhance cost efficiency in India’s competitive EV sector.
The company has not yet announced a replacement or interim lead for the cell operations team, nor clarified how day-to-day oversight will transition following Chaturvedi’s exit.
This departure reflects ongoing shifts in Ola Electric’s leadership landscape. In late 2024, former Chief Marketing Officer Anshul Khandelwal and Chief Technology Officer Suvonil Chatterjee also stepped down, highlighting a pattern of executive turnover at the Bengaluru-based firm.
Under founder Bhavish Aggarwal’s leadership, Ola Electric continues prioritizing its 4680 Bharat Cell technology—a domestically engineered battery format designed to boost energy density and vehicle range. The company recently secured regulatory certification for its Roadster X+ electric motorcycle powered by these cells, paving the way for customer deliveries.
The cell division remains critical to Ola’s vertically integrated manufacturing model, reinforced by ₹366.78 crore in government PLI incentives for FY2024-25. These funds aim to accelerate production scaling and component localization.
Chaturvedi’s resignation coincides with operational headwinds for Ola Electric, which went public in August 2024 but faces intensified market competition and execution hurdles in India’s crowded electric two-wheeler segment.
Industry analysts emphasize that battery innovation and manufacturing agility will increasingly define EV players as the market evolves. Leadership stability in core areas like cell development impacts cost efficiency, R&D timelines, and long-term differentiation—making Ola’s succession planning pivotal to its growth trajectory.
Stakeholders are now monitoring how Ola Electric addresses this leadership gap while advancing its localization targets in a dynamic EV ecosystem.
