December 10th 2024: Amity University Haryana, Academic Staff College inaugurated a transformative Two-Week Online Faculty Development Program cum Short-Term Professional Development Certificate Program on the theme “Enhancing University Rankings: Strategies, Best Practices, and Faculty Contribution on December 9, 2024. The initiative reflects Amity’s unwavering commitment to equipping faculty with the knowledge and tools to achieve institutional excellence and foster competitive standings on national and global platforms.
The program focuses on Understanding key metrics and evaluation parameters of national and global rankings, Strategies to enhance academic and research excellence, Institutional transformation through the New Education Policy, Addressing challenges in rankings, and devising actionable improvement plans.
The inaugural session commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting and a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana, setting a tone of inspiration and intellectual engagement.
Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Hon’ble Chairman of the Executive Committee, National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), delivered a visionary inaugural address. Prof. Sahasrabudhe emphasized the pivotal role of faculty in institutional excellence through honest research, innovative teaching and impactful governance. Prof. Sahasrabudhe highlighted the importance of transparency, collaboration, and converting patents into practical solutions. Prof. Sahasrabudhe also discussed effective strategies for managing perceptions in ranking systems and underscored the need for good governance to ensure sustained success.
Prof. PB Sharma, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Gurugram, during his address inspired participants with insights on fostering a culture of research, innovation, and sustainability. Prof. Sharma urged alignment with national priorities and global challenges to elevate institutional reputations. Prof Sharma emphasized the need for faculty to actively contribute to global sustainability initiatives and to implement actionable strategies that drive institutional excellence. Prof Sharma address reinforced the crucial role of faculty in shaping the future of higher education and advancing university rankings.
Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Madhukar, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Amity University Haryana, highlighted the potential of India’s higher education system and stressed the importance of understanding ranking frameworks such as NIRF, QS, and THE to achieve global competitiveness.
Dr. RS Rai, Director of IQAC at Amity University Noida, underscored that rankings reflect robust academic practices rather than standalone goals. Dr Rai emphasized transparency, leadership, and addressing institutional gaps for sustained improvement.
Prof Dr. Sanjna Vij, Dy Director of the Academic Staff College and chief organiser of the program at Amity University Haryana, delivered an engaging opening address, outlining the program’s objectives and highlighting the critical role of faculty in institutional growth.
The inaugural session concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Ravi Manuja, Registrar, Amity University Haryana, who expressed gratitude to the esteemed speakers, dignitaries, and participants for their invaluable contributions
