KL Deemed to be University Startup Teams Secure Coveted Funding in Yukthi Innovation ChallengeHyderabad, 17th May 2024: KL Deemed to be University is immensely proud to announce the exceptional achievements of our teams in the “YUKTI Innovation Challenge 2024 (YIC 2024)”, organized under the esteemed National Innovation Repository (NIR) initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. We are thrilled that two of our innovative projects, crafted by both students and faculty members, not only participated but also secured substantial funding.

YUKTI 2.0 stands as a cornerstone in creating a vibrant culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship by offering systematic support, ranging from one-to-one mentorship to grant/funding assistance and valuable connections with incubation units and Angel/Venture Capital investors. This initiative, spearheaded by MoE’s Innovation Cell and AICTE, is purposefully designed to establish a repository system for ideas, innovations, and startups cultivated within academic institutions.

Among the notable achievements, significant recognition and funding were awarded to two of the team projects of KL Deemed to be University. “Automatic Non-Contact Sanitation for Urinals,” led by Dr. Aswin Kumer S V, Associate Professor in the ECE Department and mentored by Dr. Maloji Suman, Vice Principal KLCOE & HOD ECE, receiving ₹5 lakh; and “I-Hawk,” led by Chadalawada Chetan Sai and mentored by Dr. Sagarika Imambi, Professor of CSE, which received ₹3 lakh.

These two teams not only progressed to the final pitching round of the challenge but also emerged victorious, distinguishing themselves among the 370 innovations selected from a competitive pool of 779 submissions from various institutions nationwide. The final assessment, marked by a comprehensive evaluation of their business plans, signifies a pivotal opportunity to actualize these innovative ideas into viable startups or support their commercialization.

Dr. G.Pardha Saradhi Varma, Vice-Chancellor of KL Deemed to be University, commended the teams, stating, ” This milestone in the Yukti Innovation Challenge epitomizes our steadfast commitment to nurturing an ecosystem rich in innovation and entrepreneurship. Their innovative solutions hold the potential to not only address pressing societal challenges but also propel us towards our broader mission of fostering transformative change and societal impact through education and innovation.”
