2 min readNavi Mumbai: The Psychology Committee of NMIMS, Navi Mumbai, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of NMIMS Sunrise, and Student Council, School of Liberal Arts successfully organised a vibrant rally today to promote mental health awareness. The social awareness initiative saw a huge 250 student participation in green attire aimed to educate the community about the importance of mental health and encourage open conversations around this crucial topic.
The event set off from the NMIMS campus at 9:30 a.m., with a rally featuring students and community members carrying placards and banners with messages emphasising mental well-being. The lively procession marched through key areas of the university, attracting attention and sparking discussions among onlookers.
The students congregated after the rally to witness an engaging ‘Nukkad Natak’ organised by the students of the Psychology Committee. The play presented in an innovative manner several aspects of mental health problems and emphasised the importance of looking for help and helping others through those moments.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Arpita Sarkar, Head of the Department of Psychology and Faculty-In-Charge, and promoted the idea of focusing on mental health along with other goals. Dr. Subhasheesh Bhattacharya, the Campus Director, speaking to students at the commencement of the rally asked them to embrace the change and partake in healthy activities. He later launched the two days’ celebration and activities aimed at educating students about mental health and creating an awareness around.
This event was held for two days at NMIMS Navi Mumbai campus which included engaging activities like – a gratitude tree, a Dance-Movement Therapy workshop, panel talks, serene sanctuary, psychological testing, and a students’ stage to encourage the audience to join the campaign in addressing mental health issues.
We also appreciate how the organisers of NMIMS strive to establish a supportive environment for the students where they would not hesitate to share their mental health challenges whilst being able to assist the people around them as well. The way to mental wellness begins with self-examination and the courage to nurture a safe space.
